I have a strong interest in finding solutions for those who have suffered a personal injury. In addition to the more traditional areas of personal injury law, my recent legal work has brought me to the emerging area of “Charter Torts”. I first became involved with seeking remedies under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms following the 2009 homicide death of an inmate at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre.
Prior to practicing law, I had extensive experience in management of a large national Corporation. I also owned and operated a number of small businesses. The broad range of experience and perspective I now bring to the table as a lawyer is a real benefit to my clients.
I am a student of history and genealogy and am proud to trace my family roots in law and academics as far back as 12 centuries ago, to the ancient universities and the hereditary “brehon” lawyers of Ireland. I feel an inherent attachment to the law and a passion for the good it can do. Since 2008, I have been an elected Deputy Chieftain of the Egan Clann. I very much enjoy continuing in the family tradition at McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP.
I strongly believe that those who can, ought to give back to their community. For the past several years I have been actively involved in coaching and managing minor sports within the City of London. I served seven terms as the President of the London Junior Knights Hockey Association, the elite level for competitive minor hockey within the city and now its active Past President. Currently coaching Juvenile hockey in the city. I remain am keenly interested in providing programs and other assistance so that young people have an opportunity to develop their skills and their character through sport.
